My Path
My writing life began when I could grip a crayon and misspell a few words. I found my voice in poetry and honed it as a newspaper reporter, movie producer and radio host.
Most of the opportunities I've had in life came to me through volunteerism. This led me to one of the largest hospice organizations in the country, where I became director of communications. Since then, I've been a wandering minstrel of nonprofits, telling the story of organizations that provide food, education, mental health services and outdoor experiences to those who need it most.
Along the way, I fell in love, raised two daughters, and wrote a few books, most of which I completed on behalf of the organizations I served. In my spare time, I've written family histories, cookbooks, poems, travel articles, opinion pieces, and a memoir. I'm now wading into the deep end of a historical fiction novel. If you love the sea (or love a sailor, like I do), check out my Novels page and get a taste of If the Sea Must Be Your Home, now in its final draft and seeking a publisher.
